Unfortunately, we got stalled by a day. The plumbing Inspector should have been here on Tuesday, but that darned Hurricane "Fay" got in the way. Due to a decision on Monday, the City decided to close for business on Tuesday. First thing Wednesday morning, the Inspector showed up, and we "passed"....Yeah!!!

Now, I am anxiously awaiting the pouring of the concrete. My Brother (Kevin, who else), says I will really feel like things are happening when the slabs are complete.

Not too much happened today, just a couple hours of concrete prep.
This is the newly installed re-bar outside the front door, where the column will be going.

This is more re-bar for the footer on the right side of the soon to be garage.

Here, they cut out more of the existing concrete in the carport for the footer of the garage, and installed the re-bar.

Things are beginning to get a little messy in my front yard. The plumbing began today. This is a view of the Master Bath area.

For those of you that don't know the setup, from left to right you are looking at the plumbing for the toilet, shower, whirlpool tub and double sink.

I am starting to get VERY excited. It looks like I might have a room one day to put my new beautiful vanity in!! This arrived two days ago, and I am very pleased with my purchase!!!! I wonder who the Genius was that thought of buying it??

Construction began today!! The concrete workers made their debut....Here are a few pictures to show the initial preparation and give you a good idea of where my addition is on the house.

This is where the Master Bath and Walk-in Closet will be. This is the front of my house, facing West.

This one is of the same area, just a little closer up, facing South.

This picture is of the additional concrete being added to the from porch, which will eventually have a column in the front outside corner.

This is what will be the slab when you exit/enter the side door of the garage to the North.

Soon to be slab, different view.

This is where the existing concrete was taken out in the carport/front porch for the new footer for the garage.

This one also, just on the North end. Take note of the hibiscus bush you can see part of in this picture. Luckily, the concrete guys were able to save it from being destroyed :-)

And what can you do with construction if you don't have a Doc Box??

This is an inside view of everything the City (and subcontractors) wants to see....the drawings and the official Inspector's sign off sheet.

Let the games begin...As most everyone knows, I am in the beginning phase of an addition to my house that I have dreamed about since the day I bought it 6 1/2 years ago. This is a picture of my little house before any construction.
